Esomeprazole should be used with caution in the elderly since they may be more sensitive to the effects of esomeprazole.
In general, the patients treated with Nexium for 3 months or more have been observed to have a decreased appetite, weight loss, worsening of menstrual irregularities, increased risk of lagging menstrual periods, bone pain, pain in upper right lower stomach, pain on lower right lower abdominal pain or tenderness, and rash. For the prevention of lice, use of the capsule should be discontinued before the first dose of Nexium. The patient should keep taking the capsule for the full period of the 3-month treatment. Do not stop taking the capsule, even if the symptoms disappear. If you think you are taking too much of this product talk to your doctor.
